Project Background and Challenges: During user interviews with parents whose children were enrolled in LingoAce’s one-on-one Chinese courses, the LingoAce team realized that simply improving the existing platform could not address all user pain points. Consequently, they decided to develop an entirely new mobile app for Chinese learning tailored to children aged 3–8, enabling them to learn through a variety of games, lessons, and reading activities. Many of these parents have busy schedules and cannot devote much time to their children's Chinese studies—such as the effort required to find a suitable one-on-one online tutor. A key challenge for this project was balancing the experience for the youngest and oldest users: ensuring the youngest could understand the next steps while keeping the tasks sufficiently challenging and engaging for the oldest to prevent boredom. To achieve this, we prioritized intuitive interaction through the use of vibrant colors, clear button icons, and direct visual and auditory prompts and feedback, while also employing diverse design styles for different types of lessons. For the parental control section, we streamlined the user journey to provide easy access to learning reports and achievement rewards, allowing parents to efficiently track their child's learning status and progress.
